ABOUT DAY ONES

J.CRIZZ

My name is Jared Whitehead, though I create music under the name J. Crizz. I am one half of the music duo Day Ones alongside my creative partner, Ryan Smith.

Music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Like my partner, I grew up in a household where music was always present, thanks to my father’s passion for it. That early exposure sparked a lifelong love for creating and performing music. Today, I play piano, sing, rap, produce, and write music, while continuing to expand my skills as a guitarist.

As I’ve grown as an artist, I’ve become increasingly passionate about the power of music to enhance storytelling. For years, I dreamed of hearing my music in commercials, television shows, and films. That passion ultimately led me to discover the world of sync licensing, where music and visual storytelling come together.

My work blends emotional, vibe-driven hip-hop with inspirational and story-focused lyricism. Whether creating as a solo artist or with Day Ones, my goal is to craft music that connects with listeners on an emotional level while supporting and elevating the stories being told on screen.

I am always excited to connect with music supervisors, filmmakers, content creators, and fellow musicians who share a passion for meaningful storytelling. Through collaboration and creativity, my mission is to create music that resonates, inspires, and leaves a lasting impact.

I’ve been surrounded by music my entire life. Growing up with Dad who performed in a band gave me a front-row seat to the creative process — from rehearsals and songwriting to the work it takes behind the scenes. That early exposure built the foundation for who I am today as an artist.

For the past six years, I’ve been writing, recording, producing, and developing my sound across hip-hop, R&B, and contemporary genres. I’m committed to creating music that blends emotion, storytelling, and high-level production quality.

My next chapter is focused on expanding into sync licensing — producing vocal and instrumental tracks designed for TV, film, advertising, and video games. I’m driven to create music that enhances visual storytelling and connects with audiences on an emotional level.

I’m always open to connecting with other artists, producers, music supervisors, and industry professionals who share a passion for impactful, sync-ready music.
